Objectives

This curricular unit (CU) aims to promote the deepening and integration of the students' knowledge and skills fundamentals to the analysis, production and dissemination of scientific knowledge in science of sport in general, and the in the excellence, well-being and human development in particular.

Along this CU, students must:



  1. demonstrate to know the main existing literature in their areas of interest,



  2. improve and strengthen skills related to research methodologies to be used for research in their areas of interest, and



  3. to demonstrate skills in setting goals and corresponding research methodology pertaining to their areas of interest.


Learning outcomes and competences

The syllabus of this course are consistent with the respective goals, because it was defined to allow students the deepening and consolidation of a fundamental set of knowledge and skills geared towards the successful resolution of the specific challenges that they will be placed under the writing of the research project on their doctoral thesis and its subsequent implementation

Teaching methods and learning activities

Considering the objectives set for this UC, classes take place according to a seminar structure, promoting

reflection and discussion sessions on issues previously identified and researched, encouraging the active participation of students in this process, including through the presentation of the current status of their research projects as well the options and the reasons behind them.

Calculation formula of final grade

As to the method of evaluation, to note that, in addition to the aforementioned preparatory presentations,

students present and defend their research projects leading to the preparation of their PhD thesis before a jury formally designated for that purpose.
