Objectives

This curricular unit (CU) aims to promote the deepening and consolidation of the students’ knowledge about the assumptions, conceptual foundations and practices most adopted in the field of the positive development, especially through sport, seeking thereby to promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills to intervene effectively in this area later.

Under the teaching of this CU, students must:

  1. i) demonstrate high knowledge of the main literature on the positive development of young people, both in terms of its conceptual basis as the design and implementation of intervention programs;

  2. ii) develop skills in defining objectives, behavior change programs and evaluating their impact on personal and social development;

  3. iii) improve and strengthen skills related to the different issues associated with implementation of interventions aimed at promoting the levels of personal and social responsibility and positive development of young people, through their involvement in sports contexts.

Learning outcomes and competences

The syllabus of this curricular unit is consistent with the respective goals, because it was defined to allow students to acquire an initial set of fundamental knowledge (more related to the assumptions and conceptual bases of positive development programs) to enable them to understand and better define the different options for intervention to be taken on the field and then implement it effectively.
