Objectives
Theoretical and practical components:
- To locate the sociology of sport in the field of social sciences;
- To analyze sport as a total social phenomenon capable of showing the functioning of society;
- To promote the development of the interest in understanding and the reflection of the phenomenon of sport as a social field of contemporary societies.Learning outcomes and competences
At the end of the semester students should be able to: - Master basic concept ops sociology of sport; - Demonstrate hability to distinguish and understand trends/characteristics of sport and it`s integration within the social context; - Disply capabilities of reflection and research os topis of sport as a human and social phenomenon.Working method

Eligibility for exams
The evaluation of the level of knowledge and skills of the students is conducted in accordance with existing legal provisions at the University of Porto and the Assessment Standards issued by the Pedagogical Faculty of Sport.
To be approved in Sociology of Sport, students must have positive frequency in the both practical (75% attendance). Only this way, stud antes may attend to the final exam.
If the students fail to obtain positive note, they may take the exam resource (2nd season) which also need to obtain a minimum grade of 9.5.
Calculation formula of final grade
25% of the grade of the group work and 75% of the grade of the exam, can not have any partial mark lower than 8 values.

The special assessment is undertaken in accordance with the existing legal provisions at the University of Porto and the Assessment Standards issued by the Pedagogical counsel of the Faculty of Sport.

Classification improvement
The improvement of the final classification can take place in the following two seasons after the time that has passed from the approval in the discipline. The students are required to carry their registration until three days before the date of the evaluation.
