Objectives

  1. a) Apply and develop basic knowledge acquired in the scope of Sports Training applied to Basketball.
    b) Acquire skills needed for acting as a coach in actual training and competition contexts, both in Sports for Participation and Sports for Performance in Basketball.
    c) Identify and resolve constraints related to the coach’s functions and intervention in real practice contexts.
    d) Develop skills of critical reflection concerning emergent problems in real practice settings.

Learning outcomes and competences

Considering the objectives mentioned, which are embodied in skills for professional coaching function, the methodologies applied are much less expository and more interactive. The use of training strategies is projected so the student can be in the centre of teaching-learning process.
The intention to prepare students for future coaching profession also requires the use of training strategies that aim an increasing autonomy, where the use of questioning is important mainly to the confrontation of knowledge in strict sense, to its application, until the problems resolution.

Working method

Presencial

Program

The discipline of Methodology II operates under a special regime, which focuses on the professional internship, developed in sports training centers (CTD).CTD means a core of in-service training in specific sports training, where it is intended that students are confronted with the problems raised by the professional requirements in this field and, therefore, be induced to undertake the tasks necessary for its resolution, a perspective as broad as the system itself imposed in sports preparation. The CTD can integrate all ages and levels of sports provision within the Sport Participation and Performance.
