Objectives
Acquire knowledge about the different disciplines of Gymnastics.
Understand the Gymnastics features as sport - competitive and non-competitive areas.
Understand the institutional framework of the sport, through the practice of basic gymnastic skills.
Understand the learning stages to develop gymnastics skills.
Understand the manual help.
Learning outcomes and competences
Acquiring knowledge about the correct approach of the gymnastics basic elements.
Acquiring knowledge about the biomechanics of movement, in particular, understand the placement and alignment of body segments, the motor actions present in each element, the axes rotation and the rhythms differences during performance.
Acquiring skills on the manual help - understand the positioning and placement of the hands, identify the point of intervention/manipulation and track the movement of the performer.
Acquiring theoretical and practical knowledge of the gymnastics disciplines in order to be able to teach and use different resources.
Acquiring knowledge about how to use the didactic materials in order to create learning situations that allow a gradual development in a safety environment.
Acquiring knowledge about general and specific physical preparation to develop the gymnastics skills.

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)
The same requirements as in the application to college.
Program
1. The regulations and specificities of gymnastics disciplines;
2. Safety rules for the installation and use of equipment;
3. Bases and foundations of Gymnastics: Shifts, Rotations, Supports, Hangers, Heels and Receptions;
4. Technical approach of the basic skills performed on the apparatus of the Men's and Women Artistic Gymnastics (Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel bars, High bar, Balance beam and Uneven bars);
4.1. The routines composition on each apparatus;
4.2. The biomechanics and technical analysis of the basic skills (understand the rotation axes, trajectories, centre of mass placement and body segments alignment);
4.3. The motor actions of basic skills;
4.4. Situations of learning for basic skills;
4.5. The specific flexibility and physical preparation for the basic skills;
5. The importance of the manual help for teaching Gymnastics (understandings about placement and intervention).

Eligibility for exams
The students should attend at least 75% of given lessons.
Calculation formula of final grade
The evaluation is permanent and completed by practical tests and a theoretical test.
Practical test – 75%
Theoretical Test – 25%
The minimum score required in each practical test is 8,0 values.
The students are approved when the final score on this discipline is equal or superior to 9,5 values.
