2nd Cycle in Sports for Children and Youth

InformationCourse/CS accredited by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES).

Introduction

The 2nd cycle in Sport for Children and Youth (2CDCJ) is a program of in-depth studies in sports training for children and youth. This program is designed for graduated students (have finished the 1st cycle) wishing to deepen their knowledge and reach a higher level of development. Therefore the scientific development and the preparation for a practical knowledge application are the main axiomatic areas of education in this program, in which we try to enhance and promote the suitable use of science as well as the acquisition of tools for qualified intervention in the field of training and competition for children and youth. Know how to "practice and promote the positive transfer for the competition" and know how to "do science in training and about training" are the main objectives of this program. Therefore, students have two possibilities: a more professional way, through a traineeship in a tutorial system, or a scientific way through the development of a dissertation.

Objectives

Aims of the study cycle:

  1. Increase the scientific, pedagogical and technical-professional qualification of graduated students for sports training for children and youth;
  2. To know, practice and demonstrate fundamental skills in children and youth training context;
  3. Foster students with skills that allow them to contextualize the sport participation and the practitioners’ performance aiming the optimization of long-term sport developmental programs;
  4. Foster students with skills that allow them to contextualize, with a pedagogical and scientific sense, the education and the development of children and youth in sport and competitive settings;
  5. Foster the students with the knowledge and skills for designing, implementing and managing sport developmental projects in the field of sport for children and youth.

The integration of knowledge, and the ability to deal with complex issues, develop solutions and make judgments in situations of limited or incomplete information including a critical thinking about ethical and social implications that result from these solutions or, on the other hand, constrain them.
  4. The ability to communicate their conclusions and knowledge, and justify them clearly and unambiguously to experts or non-experts in this field,;
  5. The skills needed for the a broad professional activity within the field of sport for children and youth and high level sport
