Courses Units

Qualitative and Quantitative Data Analyis

PDF02 - ECTS
The Curricular Unit of Qualitative and Quantitative Data Analysis aims to develop research skills in physiotherapy PhD students, through mastery of the methods of planning and organization of research, with emphasis on the different methodologies.
The student should master the different research methods in order to choose the most appropriate for the purpose of study and be able to properly disclose the results of research. Develop skills in the creation, analysis and interpretation of the results obtained during the collection of data in an investigation.

Biology of Movement

PDF03 - ECTS

With a scientific multidisciplinary approach, this curricular unit aims to provide students with the knowledge about the essence of human movement as well as its local (in the effector systems) and systemic impact (either acute or chronic). It is also intended to show how this knowledge has been constructed over time, with animal and human research, and its potential preventive and therapeutic applicability.

Research Methodology

PDF01 - ECTS This curricular unit aims to provide students with knowledge enabling them:
1. Understanding the evolution of scientific research;
2. Understanding different methods and practices inherent to the construction of scientific knowledge;
3. Knowing the importance of bio-statistics in the treatment of experimental results;
4. Understanding different forms of dissemination of scientific knowledge and processes inherent to its quality.
5. Understand the structure of a scientific article and the general rules for the elaboration of each one of its parts;
6. Understand the process of publishing scientific articles and the practical aspects involved in it.

Biomechanics

PDF04 - ECTS To provide students with advanced knowledge on biomechanics of human movement applied to the mechanisms of injury, their prophylaxis and to therapeutic exercise.

To develop knowledge and skills specially geared to scientific research in the discipline.

Research Project Development

PDF07 - ECTS

-Deelodissertation research roject

Therapeutic Exercise

PDF05 - ECTS

As a general purpose, this curricular unit aims to provide students with knowledge about the scientific/clinic evidences to prescribe exercise in movement disorders, giving special attention to:

- the effect of exercise as a tool in rehabilitation and secondary prevention in the contexts of pathology/disease;

- the transfer of knowledge from basic science obtained in laboratory scenery to clinical research;

- the research conducted in laboratory supporting the empirical evidence.

Seminar-Research topics

PDF06 - ECTS

It is intended, with this curricular unit, to approach themes of Physiotherapy in specific conditions or specific populations. It aims to provide interdisciplinary concepts both in the conceptual domain and in terms of the methodological treatment applied to experimental research. It seeks to develop a thematic synthesis of the research area and domain of knowledge applied to physiotherapy and its relation to exercise as a health-promoting, preventive and/or therapeutic practice in this domain.

a)Acquisition of knowledge
b)Ability to use knowledge for practical intervention
