Objectives



  1. Develop an environment that help the students realize the importance of their mission as teachers/technicians and wish intrinsically to learn more and more.



  2. To deepen students' knowledge in the field of health, sports and physical activity psychology, developing a wide approach to some topics of the area of knowledge, taking into account the contexts where they would develop their activities.



Under the teaching of this course, students must:



  1. demonstrate knowledge of the psychological principles related to the health, well being, physical ativity and sport.

  2. develop skills related to psychological interventions to achieve predefined objectives and sustain the gains.

  3. develop and apply skills in the design and evaluation of interventions to increase adherence to physical activity and sport for specific individuals and groups. .

Learning outcomes and competences

Being the introduction of students into the reflection and debate of a variety of sports psychology domains one of the aims of this curricular unit, it´s our understanding that the addressed topics, at the classes moments as well as with the topics of the seminars to be organized, show coherence between its contents and objectives

In this course we discuss the relationship between the involvement of individuals in general in physical activities and sports and their other behaviors related to healthy lifestyles and unhealthy.


Similarly, it is important in this context, knowing how people perceive themselves and their health and the factors and processes related thereto, such as quality of life, happiness and well-being .


Based on this knowledge, this course also promote further discussion on the development and implementation of intervention programs in these areas.

Eligibility for exams

The students must attend at least 75% of the classes.

Calculation formula of final grade

Attendance to at least 75% of the given lectures

For legislation covered students due to special regimens of attendance, it will be required an special exam/taskto knowledge verification related to the aims and content of the topic.

A final minimum grade of 9,5 at the tasks presented for the curricular unit is mandatory.


Evaluation will be distributed by the following components:


  • Presentation of na intervention Project sketch (group task) – 50%

  • Individual report of the seminars – 50%
