Objectives

1. Acquire and develop theoretical and practical knowledge about the Handball game, with emphasis on the individual, grupal and collective tactical-technical components.

2. Acquire knowledge about the general and specific rules of the handball game. Know thoroughly the organic of the sport and understand the implications of the rules for the actions of the game and its practice.

3. Acquire mastery of the practical skills of the handball game. Experience all of the motor constraints of the game and understands how the actions are related with the emergent problems in the game.

4. Acquire knowledge about the methods and didactic strategies of the Handball teaching at school.

Learning outcomes and competences

Reveal theoretical and practical knowledge about the Handball game, with emphasis on the individual, grupal and collective tactical-technical components.

Reveal knowledge about the general and specific rules of the handball game. Show knowldge about sport organic and understand the implications of the rules for the actions of the game and its practice.

Reveal mastery of the practical skills of the handball game  according the motor constraints of the game and understands how the actions are related with the emergent problems in the game.

Reveal knowledge about the methods and didactic strategies of the Handball teaching at school.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The Curricular unit of Practical Studies IV - Handball gathers theoretical and practical lessons.  These classes consist of practical experimentation and training and are supported by theoretical lessons.

Eligibility for exams

Attendance to at least 75% of classes. With medical proof, attendance to at least 50% of classes.

Are exempted from the attendance conditions the working students and high-competition athletes.

The evaluation has two parts, one practical and another theoretical. In both evaluation moments the student could not have a final mark lower than 8,0 points.

Calculation formula of final grade

Final classification will be structured as follows: 
A practical assessment 75% of the final mark and the theoretical assessment 25% of the final mark. Neither of these components could be less than eight (8) values.

The final mark is obtained by the mean of practical and theoretical tasks. A student is considered approved if he obtains a final classification of ten (10) values

The evaluation has the following parts
1 - Practical evaluation: continuous evaluation and two defined moments of pratical evaluation:
- First moment: between the 16^th and 20^th the march of 2020; 
- Second moment: between the 25^th and 29^th the May of 2020;

2 - Theoretical evaluation: Written test to be scheduled in the beginning of the semester.

If the student could not reach the minimum mark (8,0 points) on the theoretical task, he should do a second writing test. But these is not applied on the practical task.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

The Students who are exempted from the attendance conditions, (working students and high-competition athletes) have to do the formal assessment tests (practical and theoretical) in specifc dates and perform a set of works. The contents of the works will be define with the respective teacher at the beginning of the school year and will have to deliver in two different times:
- First time delivery: March 20, 2020.
- Second time delivery: May 29, 2020.

Observations

As a result of the changes in the teaching conditions of the Handball classes, there was necessary perform some adjustments in the assessment of the Handball Unit. So, The Final classification (grade) will be structured as follows:

Final Grade = Theoretical Assessment (50 ) + Practical Assessment (50 %)

The Theoretical Assessment will be maintained on written test format modifying only the calculation percentage for the final grade (50%). The Practical Assessment was replaced for Evaluation of 2 works carried out in pairs (Groups of 2 persons).

The evaluation conditions described above will be maintained where neither of these components could be less than eight (8) values.

This information was sent by dynamic email to all students in Portuguese, on the 15th of April and, on the 16th of April, in English. In addition, in Moodle can be consulted several informational about the Unit.
