The main goal is to bring to the students five major themes of sport: sport, politics, racism, xenophobia and social transformation; Sports and Social Inclusion; Sport, culture and identity; Olympism and social values; Doping, sport's truth and the spirit of sports. Being sport a relevant social fact of contemporary life, through the development of these themes it is intended to promote in the students competences of reflection, analysis and socio-anthropological intervention, indispensable to any protagonist in sport's management field.
The student should be led to critical and founded thought based on the issues proposed at classes. The intimate connection between sport, culture and society must be thought openly and out loud, both through the reading and analysis of texts, and through the students' personal experiences. Hence the constant debate and interaction sought among students, teachers and guest speakers. As the main objective is to increase students' sensitivity to issues involving the main issues that affect sport in today's society, the intention reaches other horizons and leads to a practical thinking that triggers a sense of responsibility on sports management field of intervention. This method does not intend only a reflection situated in the classroom, but must persist over time and must be reflected in students' future professional life, by the commitment with the development and the understanding of sport in current culture and society.
