Objectives
The aim of this curricular unit (CU) is to help students to develop and consolidate a set of fundamental knowledge about Gender and Sport and associated issues, particularly with regard to how concepts of masculinity and femininity are defined and constructed as well as its relations with the different contexts and cultures in sport, and to aid them to demonstrate a critical and based perspective about existent knowledge and current practices. It also is purpose of this CU that students, based on this knowledge, will be able to define and implement research and intervention projects in this area in order to contribute to improve the current situation.
Learning outcomes and competences
The syllabus focus on core issues of gender theme, placing it in the world of sport and integrates the main research lines and current topics of this area, seeking to provide students with the conceptual tools that will help them in to understanding and formulating new problems of research and intervention in this area.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Expositive lectures and theme discussions, including presentation of works based on analysis of scientific works.For evaluation purposes, the students have to attend at least 75% of the classes., and they have to present and to defend a work based on the analysis of the most relevant literature available in this field of knowledge.
