Objectives

Theoretical and practical components:
- To locate the Sociology of Sport in the field of Social Sciences;
- To analyze Sport as a total social phenomenon capable of showing the functioning of society;
- To promote and to develop an interest in understanding and reflection of the phenomenon of sport as a social field of contemporary societies.

Eligibility for exams

The evaluation of the level of knowledge and skills of the students is conducted in accordance with existing legal provisions at the University of Porto and the Assessment Standards issued by the Pedagogical Faculty of Sport.
To be approved in an Introduction to Sociology of Sport, students must have positive frequency in the both practical and theoretical classes (75% attendance). Only this way, stud antes may attend to the final exam.
. If the students fail to obtain positive note, they may take the exam resource (2nd season) which also need to obtain a minimum grade of 9.5.

The special assessment is undertaken in accordance with the existing legal provisions at the University of Porto and the Assessment Standards issued by the Pedagogical counsel of the Faculty of Sport.

Classification improvement

The improvement of the final classification can take place in the following two seasons after the time that has passed from the approval in the discipline. The students are required to carry their registration until three days before the date of the evaluation.
