Personal Presentation
Full Professor of Sports Psychology at the Faculty of Sports of the University of Porto (FADEUP).
Adjunct Professor at the University of Northern Colorado (USA).
Affiliated Professor at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (Mexico)
Visiting Professor at the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche (Spain)
Director of FADEUP.
Director of the Center for Research, Training, Innovation, and Intervention in Sport (CIFI2D), and of the Doctoral Program in Sports Sciences (PD-CD) at FADEUP.
Previously, he was President of the Scientific Council and the Pedagogical Council of FADEUP, having also been Director of the Undergraduate Programs in Physical Education and Sport and in Sport Sciences and a member of the Coordinating and Scientific Committees for the Master in Adapted Physical Activity and the Master in Sports Management.
He teaches/ has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at several universities in Portugal, Angola, Brazil, Chile, Spain, USA, England, Mexico and Mozambique.
He coordinated/ participated in several national and international research projects funded by national and international institutions.
Director of the Portuguese Journal of Sports Sciences (RPCD); Associate Director of the Cuadernos de Psicología del Deporte; Associate Editor of the Revista Iberoamericana de Psicología del Ejercicio y el Deporte (RIPED)
He has presented more than 300 communications and conference papers at international congresses and has published more than 200 articles, chapters, and books in several countries.
He supervises/ supervised more than 100 master's dissertations ('pre-Bologna') and doctoral theses.
A former footballer, he was a member of the technical team of several professional clubs competing in the 1st and 2nd Leagues; he also acted as a consultant for athletes, coaches, teams, and selections in various sports.
Additionally, he participated as a speaker in more than 100 training sessions for coaches, managers, and referees of various sports.
