Abstract (EN):
In this paper, we consider a reduced parameter (RP) model for the effect of the drug atracurium on the level of neuromuscular blockade (NMB) of patients undergoing general anesthesia. We propose a new identification procedure to estimate the patient-dependent parameters of the RP model and present two NMB control laws based on it. The first is a closed-loop law and is referred to as the total-mass control law. The second is an open-loop law based on the inversion of the RP model in steady state. We conduct an experimental study in which we compare the control results obtained from the two approaches. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
