Dr. Azevedo is a Principal Investigator and Professor of Genetics at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the U.Porto (ICBAS-UP), and member of the Unit for Multidisciplinary Research in Biomedicine (UMIB).
Dr. Azevedo research focus on (a) the identification and characterization of genetic modifiers of disease genes and (b) the exploration of the deleteriousness of de novo mutations, with a view to improving the understanding of genotype-phenotype correlations. Dr. Azevedo has extensive experience in the supervision of students (Post-doc, PhD and MSc) and in successfully obtaining funding from highly competitive national and international programs. She is internationally recognized for her contributions to the study of molecular interactions and their relevance to molecular medicine.
