For admission to the 2nd cycle (masters) courses at the U.Porto, the applicant must fulfil one of these conditions:
- Hold a bachelors degree or legal equivalent in one of the areas specified by the school/faculty;
- Hold a foreign higher education degree that is in accordance with the Bologna process or that may be recognised by the U.Porto as satisfying the requirements of a bachelors degree;
- Have an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that the U.Porto recognises as proof of ability to complete the course of study.
Applications to the U.Porto Masters courses are submitted to the school/faculty of the U.Porto that the student wishes to apply for. It is the responsibility of each school/faculty to establish and announce the necessary procedures in advance (documents, deadlines, vacancies, placement criteria, etc.).
For the 2015/2016 academic year, the U.Porto school/faculties have around 3,500 vacancies (subject to change) for 124 different 2nd cycle (masters) courses. Vacancies for students who only wish to attend the second year of the masters courses are included in this number. Check the mapa de vagas.
For the 2016/2017 academic year, the annual tuition fee base value for masters courses at the U.Porto (in full time) is 1,250 Euro (+1.95 Euro for academic insurance). The annual tuition fee for students covered by the International Student Statute (EEI) is defined by each U.Porto faculty (according to the real cost of the course) and ranges from 3,000 euros (¤3,000) to 6,000 euros (¤6,000). Given the bonds between Portugal and the CPLP - Community of Portuguese Language Countries (Angola , Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe and East Timor), a reduction of up to 50% may be applied to the tuition fee for students from those countries.
For more information, check the U.Porto Tuition Fees Regulations. In the area Scholarships and Financing you will also find useful information about financial support available to the U.Porto students.
For more information, see the General Regulations of the 2nd Cycles of Study - Regulamento Geral dos Segundos Ciclos de Estudos - of the U.Porto (only available in portuguese). Additionally, each course also has its own regulations.
