Special Contests 2017/2018
Candidates with Bachelors Degrees in a Related Field
This contest aims to ease admission into the U.Porto integrated masters courses for applicants – Portuguese or foreign – who hold a 1st cycle degree in an area of study compatible with the area of study they wish to apply for. This is the case, for example, of polytechnic degree graduates who need a masters in order to join their professional organisation (e.g.: Engineering).
The Special Contest for Candidates with Bachelors Degrees in a Related Field is intended for applicants who:
- Are graduates of a Portuguese Higher Education course in a Related Field;
- Are graduates of a foreign higher education course in a Related Field and have their degree officially recognised in order to have the same effects as Portuguese degrees.
Note: The relation-level of the area of study to the scientific area of the course that the applicant is applying for will be determined during the placement process.
For the 2018/2019 academic year, the faculties of Architecture, Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy, Psychology and Education Sciences, and the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences have 252 vacancies in their courses of Integrated Masters specifically for the Special Contest for Candidates with Bachelors Degrees in a Related Field. The remaining faculties / courses do not offer vacancies for this contest.
Applications to the Special Contest of Admissions for Candidates with Bachelors Degrees in a Related Field are made through the academic services of the U.Porto school/faculty that you wish to apply for. The latter are responsible for establishing the available number of vacancies, the procedures and deadlines for application (to be announced on their websites) and placement criteria.
Applicants will be placed according to criteria such as an assessment of their academic and professional curriculum and an evaluation – by means of an interview – of their behavioural and interpersonal abilities.
Successful applicants will follow a personalised course of study compatible with their previous academic and professional experience. For those with a Pre-Bologna bachelors degree, the course of study may require the completion of a dissertation, a traineeship, and/or courses from the current course plan of the Integrated Masters they are attending.
