Cultures, Museums and Heritage - Casa Comum

The University of Porto’s Casa Comum is a cultural meeting point, offering a full event schedule.

Casa Comum is a place of knowledge sharing – with events involving cinema, exhibitions, literature, music, performances, open classes, scientific and cultural seminars and workshops for children – not only for the academic community at the University of Porto, but also for the city. Physically located in U.Porto’s historic Rectory building, in the Gomes Teixeira Square (Lion's Square), Casa Comum consists of an auditorium and two exhibition rooms. It also has a virtual space online, where it regularly publishes podcasts on culture and science.

Among other things, Casa Comum Cultura U.Porto is responsible for the following:

  • The promotion of various cultural activities, taking into consideration the democratisation of access to culture and knowledge, as well as the promotion of a spirit of critical thinking, creativity and solidarity.
  • Hosting and giving a voice to U.Porto's cultural groups: Orfeão Universitário (OUP), TUP, Coral de Letras, NEFUP, Sociedade de Debates and Antigos Orfeonistas, among others.

Casa Comum's website and its social media are updated regularly.
