The Bologna Process at the U.Porto - Change of Model

The Bologna Process aims to promote comparability, transparency, trust and legibility of higher education systems. For this purpose, higher education institutions are currently reorganising their titles and awards in order to fit into the three cycles of study, implementing new tools to promote mobility and employability (the ECTS credit system, study contracts, European comparability scales for classifications and additions to diplomas), as well as developing tools to ensure quality and accreditation of study cycles.

One of the biggest and most difficult challenges of the Bologna Process is the change in model of teaching-learning and designing courses based on skills, results of learning and previously-defined qualifications for each study cycle.

There are several initiatives taken by the University of Porto to add dynamism and contribute to deepening the debate around this fundamental and structural question of the Bologna Process.
