Abstract (EN):
The prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD) seems to be high among the workers of the sewing sector in the footwear industry. However, only a few studies were found on this issue. Therefore, this paper aims to perform a brief review of the literature about WMSD and the associated risk factors in the sewing sector of the footwear industry. The review of literature was conducted using the systematic search of the database source Web of Knowledge. The few studies found point out to a high prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms that affect, in particular, the regions of the neck, shoulders and back of these workers. There is still much to be done to characterize the WMSD in the sewing sector of the footwear industry. Thus, further studies are needed on this subject in this sector.
