Abstract (EN):
This work presents in part I a tower testing station that is being developed in Portugal (Trofa, Porto). The main focus is given to one of most important elements of the tower testing station, the secondary auxiliary testing structure. In part I of this paper, a comprehensive description of the overall conception phase (geometry, type of bars, material) of the testing structure is given. The different design situations and correspondent limit states that were considered for the analysis and design of the structure as defined in Eurocode 0 with partial factor method are explained. Afterward, the process related with the quantification of the principal loads (testing loads, wind loads and temperature) acting on the structure are fully characterized.
