Details
Summary: Adhesion and growth of undesirable deposits on industrial equipment (fouling) leads to an increase in production and maintenance costs as well as to health and environmental problems (due to the excessive use of chemicals in the cleaning operations).
On-line monitoring techniques are needed to give on-line real-time information on the control and minimization of the fouling phenomena. Data on the amount and nature of the deposits allows prevention measures to be taken on time.
The project aims at developing a non-invasive on line industrial system to monitor fouling and is based on a nanovibration technology previously studied in the research unit LEPAE.
