Summary: |
The chloride ion and gas transport will be studied when permeating water born paint films. It will be considered paint fill containing ionic fillers, like calcium carbonate or alumino-silicates, but also containing alternative non-ionic fillers like plastics wastes particles.
The ionic mass transport across a paint film will be modeled and the model will be validated experimentally. This study will allow us for a better understand the ionic transport phenomena and then to develop new formulations that minimize the chloride ion transport and then to improve the paint film anti-corrosion properties.
The mass transport study will be conducted based on water born base paint formulation. This paint formulation will be provided by Barbot and will be specially fitted to anti-corrosion applications.
Finally the base paint formulation and its proposed modifications will be assessed in view of the European legislation for anti-corrosion paint products. |
