Abstract (EN): Cellular materials are very common in nature, being present on natural materials such as cork, wood, coral, bones, etc. This configuration has some advantages, since it combines high stiffness with a relatively low density [1]. A requirement for the application of new materials in modern industry is a thorough documentation of their properties and mechanical behaviors. In addition, the success of numerical simulation for analyses of structures and components rests upon the accuracy and efficiency of the applied material models and the parameters of those models [2]. The main goal of this work is to study, both experimentally and numerically, sandwich panels composed by a core of aluminum foam separating two sheets of aluminum, in order to assist in the design process of forming. DIC (Digital Image Correlation) is used to perform experimental characterization of sheets of aluminum from sandwich plates showing to be an efficient and reliable procedure to obtain both the flow curve as well as its anisotropic characteristics.
