Apresentação Pessoal
Maria Strecht Almeida is Assistant Professor at the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar. She holds a degree in Biochemistry by the University of Porto and a PhD in Sociology (specialty Sociology of Culture, Knowledge and Communication) by the University of Coimbra. Her teaching activity is developed in the area of biophysics, and in recent years she has also been involved in the implementation, at the undergraduate level, of the teaching of topics related to the science and society dialogue. Current research interests are in the field of sociology of science, focusing on the dynamics of knowledge production in the life sciences and biomedicine.
Member of the coordination team of the thematic section "Knowledge, Science and Technology" of the Portuguese Association of Sociology, 2018-2022. Currently, is member of the Editorial Board of the journal “Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education”.
