1.2 Those who are included in one of the exceptions provided for in article 3 of Decree-Law no. 36/2014, in its current version, are also not considered to be international students and, therefore, cannot be admitted through this application procedure, namely those who:
Also not considered an international student is a foreign student who is attending a Portuguese higher education institution as part of an international mobility programme to complete part of a cycle of studies at a foreign higher education institution with which the Portuguese institution has established an exchange agreement for this purpose.
Note:
When an applicant has two or more nationalities and one of them is Portuguese, only that nationality counts, so they cannot be admitted through this special application procedure.
If the applicant has two or more nationalities, which do not include Portuguese nationality, but has one nationality from a member state of the European Union or a state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA) and another from a third country (1), they may opt for one of them.
If you choose to enter with the nationality of a third country, you will remain an international student until the end of the cycle of studies in which you are initially enrolled or to which you are transferring, even if, during the course of the cycle of studies, you are granted the Status of Equal Rights and Duties under an international treaty granted between the Portuguese State and the State of which you are a national, with the exception of that provided for in no. 6 of art. 3. of Decree-Law no. 36/2014, of 10 March, in its current wording, and in no. 8 of art. 1 of Regulation no. 664/2018, of 16 October.
(1) ‘Third State’ means any State that is not a member of the European Union or a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
1.3 International students maintain the status of international student until the end of the cycle of studies in which they initially enrolled or to which they transfer, even if, while attending any of these cycles of studies, they are granted the status of equal rights and duties under a treaty or international agreement signed between the Portuguese State and the State of which they are a national, with the exception of those who acquire Portuguese nationality, the nationality of another Member State of the European Union or the nationality of a State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, in which case the cessation of the application of international student status takes effect in the academic year following the date of proof of acquisition of nationality.
The process of admission to the application procedure and the selection of candidates is the responsibility of the jury appointed by the Scientific Committee of the Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine at ICBAS.
