The continuing training unit ““Exploring the Cell – Light Microscopy Beyond Basics”.” seeks to introduce the basic concepts and advanced techniques of light microscopy and its application in the life sciences.

The course is the result of a joint organization of ICBAS (MCbiology PhD Program) and i3S (Advanced Light Microscopy)

Objectives

• Introduce students to the state of the art of light microscopy technologies and applications available for the study of life sciences with emphasis on cell biology;
• Familiarize students with the various microscopy equipment through a strong practical;
• Introduce digital image analysis as a fundamental element in projects involving microscopy.

       Results:

• Students are expected to acquire solid light microscopy skills that they can successfully apply in their future PhD projects.
