Environmental Contamination and Toxicology

InformationCourse/CS accredited by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES).

Candidates to the programme can be holders of a BSc or a legally equivalent degree, professionals with certified experience, or students in the final phase of a 1st Study Cycle in the areas of Life, Natural or Environmental Sciences. Applications in the scope of the ERASMUS MUNDUS path will follow the rules to be established by the international Consortium.


The study programme will be offered by the Universidade do Porto (ICBAS-UP e FCUP).


1st year students of the MTCA: meeting to start the school year will take place on September 22 (Thursday), starting at 2 pm and scheduled to last until 4 pm, in room 18 (building 3, floor 1), at ICBAS .


Objectives

The MTCA is mainly focused on understanding the interactions between pollution/other environmental stressors and living organisms/ecosystems, assess and manage the risks of pollution and other stressors (e.g. climate changes) to environmental, animal and human health (One Health), among other current/emerging paradigms. It will provide a high quality education/research training in toxicology, ecotoxicology, chemistry and other areas. The graduates will be able to conduct research, develop technologies, participate in environmental policies and management, communicate and operate in international and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to address, adapt to, and overcome some of the most challenging paradigms that local/ national/ European/ international institutions are facing. Thus, they are expected to actively contribute to the goals of the new European policies, to economic and social development, to global environmental sustainability and human health protection.
