In this course the students should be able to evaluate and implement a group intervention programme in situations of prevention or adjustment to disease.
Provide students with:
- Theoretical-practical knowledge on group mobilization within physical and mental health issues. According to the issues presented on classes students should deepen their knowledge related with the different theoretical models applied in group intervention.
- Competences of leadership, being able to establish goals and to outline strategies of intervention adequate to the group stages of development.
1. Characterization and specificities of different types of groups in health contexts (therapeutic groups, support groups, educational groups). 2. Approach to group processes (feedback; developmental stages of the group, cohesion). 3. The Humanists models applied to groups (Schutz, Pearls, Rogers). 4. The cognitive-behavioural models applied to groups (Ellis, Lazarus). 5. The Yalom model. 6. Introduction to psychodrama. 7. Exemplification of techniques of groups dynamic adjusted to health contexts. 8. Exemplification of interventions in group carried out with patients and their family.
Theoretical-practical classes.
On the theoretical level are used oral exposure through PowerPoint and discussion of the papers previously suggested. On a practical level, skills to lead and engage in groups are promoted through training.
This type of classes takes place in a specific room which is suitable for the training of group dynamics. At the beginning, teachers exemplify the application of group dynamics appropriate to the contexts of health.
Afterwards, each group 2-3 students must present an intervention program which will be presented in practical classes through the leadership and conducting exercises group dynamics.

All ratings are expressed on a scale from 0 to 20, resulting in a weighted final score of the two components. Only the final result will be rounded.
For approval students must have a minimum of 10 marks in each of the components.
