Cycles of Study/Courses
Teaching language
Portuguese
Objectives
The goals of the course are: to consolidate the knowledge of some of the techniques studied in previous Statistics courses; to introduce the students to a larger variety of techniques based on their knowledge from previous Statistics courses; to provide more familiarity with different research problems and their formulation in terms of data analysis.
Program
1. Associated research problems, application conditions, execution in the SPSS, interpretation and presentation of the results in the following techniques: Planned comparisons in One-way ANOVA; Analysis of co-variance; Multivariate analysis of variance and co-variance.
2. Moderation and mediation: concept and analysis techniques, interpreting and presenting the results.
3. Associated research problems, application conditions, execution in the SPSS, interpretation and presentation of the results in the Principal Components Analysis.
3. Associated research problems, application conditions, execution in the SPSS, interpretation and presentation of the results in Clusters Analysis.

Eligibility for exams
Students should attend a minimum of 75% of classes
Calculation formula of final grade
The final mark is the sum of the individual work (weighted 30%) and the final exam (70%). A mark less than 8 (in a 0-20 scale) in any of the components results in repproval. Students with final marks of 8 and 9 must be examined in a second oral exam.
Examinations or Special Assignments
Individual research work involving at least one of the new techniques approached in the course.
Classification improvement
Through exam in one of the subsequent calls. The mark of the individual work is taken in consideration.
