Abstract (EN): Carbon nanospheres were synthesized by thermal decomposition of CH4 in the presence of metal oxide catalysts. Solid and hollow nanospheres were obtained by catalytic process from camphor vapors at 1000 °C using ferrocene as the catalyst precursor. Temperature programmed desorption tests revealed the formation of some surface oxygenated groups, shown by the increase of the CO and CO2 peaks. The diameters of the well-dispersed particles ranged between 100 and 300 nm. Thermogravimetric analysis was performed to evaluate the resistance of carbon nanospheres to oxidation. The graphitic structure was analyzed using electron energy loss spectroscopy and high resolution electron microscopy.
