Objectives
The purpose of the seminar is to provide the student with basic research skills in the area of deviant behaviour psychology by developing an empirical study focused on a specific topic. The topic and design of the empirical study is built around the nature of the practicum experience of the student.
Program
The seminar includes three distinct activities:
a) The initial part of the seminar is designed to introduce students to methodological issues in the field of deviant behaviour. It includes didactic presentations on principles and general guidelines to undertake a field research.
b) Discussions centered around the specific research projects of the students, based on its theoretical foundations and methodological issues;
c) The final part of the seminar includes a brief presentation by the student of the objectives and preliminary results of the research.
The basic contends of the didactic presentations address the following topics:
Chapter I. Quantitative methods in deviant behavior psychology research
a) General aspects and guidelines
b) Quantitative methods in drug abuse research
c) Quantitative methods in delinquency and crime research
Chapter II. Qualitative methods in deviant behavior psychology research
a) General aspects and guidelines
b) Qualitative methods in drug abuse research
