| Summary: |
This research proposal addresses one of the main gaps regarding mental health issues in Portugal: the absence of accurate, nationally representative data, psychosocially framed, that could inform the development of intersectoral policies in the field, from environmental prevention to treatment, from the health to social and economic sector.
RESIL(SC)ENCE aims to contribute to the development of valid, timely, and accurate indicators that could provide a systemic and comprehensive analysis of youth MH determinants.
The significant investment in measurement and the production of an inclusive data survey (that addresses Portuguese social, economic and regional inequalities) also aims to provide the scientific community and policymakers with a culturally adapted and youth sensitivity tool for monitoring future reforms and policies' impact on the field.
The feasibility of the project will benefit from the team's experience and background (the PL has been working for the past 20 years with people with trajectories of adversity and trauma); the team's active participation in national/international networks and research centers in the field, and collaborative participation of Consultative Panel. Also, by acknowledging the role of innovative, shared knowledge production and impactful science for people, RESIL(SC)ENCE team will contribute to bridging the gap between policies, practices, and real-life challenges in youth life. |
