Access requirements:
- first degree in Psychology with the minimum final average grade of 14 values (Portuguese evaluating scale: from 0 to 20)
- To have a suitable curriculum vitæ
- To be approved to fill a vacancy in a Master course
- The Scientific Board of our Faculty can, in exceptional cases, accept the application of a student that achieved less than 14 values in his first degree (Licenciado). However, in these cases, the students must prove to have acquired sufficient scientific knowledge and to show a suitable curriculum vitæ.
The Master courses last 4 semesters:
- 1st and 2nd semester - academic course
- 2nd and 3rd semester - writing the dissertation
Student’s Scientific Competences:
Students of the Master Course, under the orientation and supervision of a doctorate, should be able to:
- Search, critically analyse and systematize relevant information about theoretical and methodological frames in a certain Psychological domain, in order to respond to a research question;
- Elaborate a design of a search and adequate collecting and data management methodologies to the research aims;
- Do an analysis and a strict discussion of the research results, having in mind his/her strength and limitations;
- Present the different steps of the research development, in a structured, coherent, clear and articulated way, in order to allow its diffusion.
Student’s Academic Competences:
- To knowledge the state of art in a certain domain;
- To understand in a deepen way some research methodologies in psychology;
- To know how to evaluate, in a critical way, other research works using similar methodologies;
- To be able to pass to others this type of knowledge.
Professional Contexts:
- Research;
- Teaching in Higher Education Schools (Polytechnic Schools and Universities);
- Access to more skilled functions in institutions where students carry out the psychological practice.
