Teaching goals:

• To encourage the acquisition of scientific knowledge in educational area;
• To promote inter and transdisciplinary approaches which emphasize the complexity of social and educational phenomena;
• To encourage the scientific reflection, theoretically and methodologically guided, which may lead to the creation of interdisciplinary research projects;
• To create habits of documental research, critical lecture and information management;
• To encourage the search for solutions through the observation of socio-educational problems identified by teachers and students;
• To promote attitudes of sharing experiences, knowledge and information, namely through group works and collective creation of documents.

General Professional Contexts:

• Researcher in formal and non-formal educational contexts;
• Manager and animator of Educational Resources;
• Creator and manager of educational projects.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

National Admission:

Admissions for full-time undergraduate studies - National Competition for Access to Higher Education:
The competition usually takes place in July of each year and is coordinated at national level by the National Office of Access to Higher Education in Lisbon, which should be the candidate’s first point of contact.
Note that before making the application, it will be necessary to take national admission examinations. Enrolment for these takes place sometimes as early as February.

Applicants to Educational Sciences have to fulfil the following requirements:

• holding a diploma of a Secondary Education course (12th Grade Secondary Education) or a legally equivalent qualification;
• having taken the Secondary Education national examination test of of one of the following subjects: 2007 - Portuguese Language or Psychology or Philosophy;
• having obtained an application grade equal or above the minimum established limit of 9,5 (on a scale of 0-20)

Local Admission:

The Local Admission is aimed at candidates with specific qualifications as the following:

• Bachelors in Pre-School Education;
• Bachelors in Basic Education – 1st Cycle;
• Graduates in Social Service;
• Bachelors in Nursing;
• Other Bachelor Degrees or Graduate Degrees.

These applicants must also submit to a specific test about Educational Sciences.

Application is made directly to the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences – Porto University. The deadline for the submission of application period is usually during June.
