Apresentação Pessoal

Luis Jacinto is Principal Investigator at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and Professor of Neuroengineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal.

He holds a PhD (University of Minho) and MSc (FEUP, University of Porto) in Biomedical Engineering and a BSc in Biology (FCUP, University of Porto). Dr. Jacinto received doctoral training at the Center for Neural Engineering, Penn State University, USA and at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), University of Minho, Portugal, combining his mixed biological/engineering science background to study brain dynamics across several brain disorders. He held postdoctoral positions at the Brain Institute, University of Utah, USA and ICVS,  Portugal. 

Dr. Jacinto's lab develops and uses novel neuroengineering tools to probe, modulate and model the neurophysiology of brain circuits involved in neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. This include:

- micro/nano neural interfaces for electrical and chemical brain activity monitoring.

- bioelectronic sensors and actuators for diagnostic/therapeutic approaches for brain disorders.

- in vivo electrophysiology and optogenetics for the study of functional brain dynamics.

- computational/machine learning methods for neural data analysis and biomedical signal processing.
