Address the latest nuclear themes of Psychosomatics and Liaison Psychiatry at the Cardiovascular Area, and provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for their deeper training.

Learning outcomes and competences

Objectives: To acquire specific concepts and methodologies related to the provision of integrated health care to patients primarily followed by other medical specialties. Thus, it is intended:

  1. Integrate the relationship between somatic and psychiatric illness
  2. Co-existing psychiatric disease
  3. Psychiatric complications of the disease or of the physical treatment
  4. Psychological reaction to the disease and treatments
  5. Presentation of psychiatric illness as somatization
  6. Physical complications of psychiatric illness
  7. Psychological factors influencing the course and the expression of physical illness
