Endow students with the necessary theoretical and practical concepts to understand, apply and overcome practical problems inherent to molecular and cell biology techniques essential for cardiovascular research.

Learning outcomes and competences

Students are expect to acquire knowledge and develop advanced skills for carrying out scientific projects in the cardiovascular area that require the use of molecular and cell biology techniques, including to:

1.Analyze specifically myocardial and vascular endothelium gene expression.

2.Quantify protein and gene expression (RT-PCR, Western Blot, etc).

3.Perform myocardial immunohistochemistry analysis.

4.Establish primary culture of cardiomyocytes, adipocytes and fibroblasts.

5.Genotype transgenic mice.

6.Prepare conditioned media.

Working method



Practical classes:

1.Regulation of myocardial gene expression.

2.Regulation of vascular endothelial gene expression.

3.Quantification of gene expression in cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells.

4.Myocardial immunohistochemical analysis.

5.Primary cell culture of cardiomyocyte and fibroblasts.
