Objectives

Crisis Resources Management (CRM) focuses on cognitive and non-technical skills fundamental for optimum performance by healthcare teams. CRM explores psychological, interpersonal and environmental factors that influence healthcare, especially in unexpected and dangerous situations, where time is a key factor.

The main objectives are:

  • Understand the influence of human factors on errors
  • Identify and understand the basic principles of CRM and patient safety
  • Identify and understand the key elements of an effective team
Develop and implement strategies for proper management of critical events and effective teamwork

Learning outcomes and competences

After completing this curricular unit, students will be able to:
1. Understand the basic principles of effective teamwork
2. Apply non-technical strategies and competences to adequately resolve critical clinical situations
