Objectives
Application of computer simulations to neuronal systems
Program
Theory of the action potential – ionic channels and currents, membrane electrical potentials, Hodgkin-Huxley equations, induction and propagation of signals; The neuron as an information processing unit – synaptic signals, dendritic integration, models and neuronal simulation; Neuronal populations and circuitry – functional analysis of groups of neurons, coding and decoding of signals, models and simulation of circuits; Plasticity – short and long term synaptic plasticity models, learning and memory in neuronal networks.
