Objectives


- Possess competence in the critical evaluation of published works, having a comprehensive knowledge of the historical context of the different themes of etiology, pathogenesis and periodontal and peri-implant treatment, up to the present moment;
- Understanding the evolution of knowledge and the aspects that conditioned/driven this evolution;
- Be able to analyze and select topics of interest in the field of Periodontology and Oral Implantology;
- After the initial design of the project and identification of the limitations found, the student must write and present their thesis project, which will be followed up in the following Literature Review modules.

The different curricular units of Literature Review aim to provide a historical basis for the evolution of the different topics covered in the other curricular units. Thus, the syllabus of the Literature Review curricular units for each of the themes have the following syllabus:
- Review and historical contextualization of contents previously taught in introductory curricular units to Periodontology and Basic Periodontology;
- Presentation and debate of several topics of interest in the field of Periodontology and Implantology (covered in the introductory curricular units to Periodontology and Basic Periodontology);
- Analysis of methodological limitations;
- Choice of the theme for the research project that will serve as the basis for the article to be written by the students.

Teaching methods and learning activities


The Curricular Unit will work through lectures and theoretical-practical classes, for debate and discussion of the syllabus, as well as for the development of the research project.
