Objectives

FIXED PROSTHODONTICS MODULE (3 ECTS)

To acquire theoretical-practical and practical knowledge/competencies for executing tooth preparation in Fixed Prosthodontics and performing provisional restorations, impressions and cementations.

REMOVABLE PROSTHODONTICS MODULE (3 ECTS)

Learning of general concepts related to the rehabilitation of totally edentulous patients with removable dentures. The student should be able to establish a correct diagnosis and treatment planning for totally edentulous patients.

OCCLUSION MODULE (3 ECTS)
Acquire Knowledge, for clinical application, about the therapy of temporomandibular disorders and auxiliary means of diagnosing temporomandibular disorders, in addition to occlusion concepts related to the vertical dimension of occlusion and semi-adjustable articulators.

MATERIALS MODULE (1 ECTS)

The student must acquire theoretical knowledge essential for the ability to handle materials used in rehabilitative treatment.

Learning outcomes and competences

Students should be able to:

- execute appropriate tooth preparations, temporary restorations and impressions on fixed prostheses;

- establish a diagnosis and plan a clinical case of total removable prosthesis, and produce casts, record bases and wax rims;

- apply diagnostic aids and therapeutic options in patients with temporomandibular disorders;

- manipulate different prosthetic materials.

Program

FIXED PROSTHODONTICS
Theoretical-practical: Teeth with endodontic treatment and immediate false stump posts; Temporary restorations. Practice: Dental preparation, on models, of anterior full crowns in ceramic; Teeth with endodontic treatment; Temporary restorations.

REMOVABLE PROSTHODONTICS

Theory: Diagnosis and rehabilitation of totally edentulous patients; Clinical and laboratory steps of removable complete denture fabrication.

Practical:Manufacture of base plates and articulation rollers for removable complete dentures. Teeth assembly and waxing.

OCCLUSION
Therapy of temporomandibular disorders; Vertical dimension of occlusion; Face bow and articulators; Assembling models on a semi-adjustable articulator; Auxiliary means of diagnosing temporomandibular disorders.

MATERIALS
Materials used in removable, fixed and occlusal prosthodontics. Different groups of materials classified according to their composition, properties and fields of application - from the clinic to the laboratory. Polymers, Metals, Ceramics and Cements.
