Objectives

This is a classic course in macroscopic human anatomy which is designed to impart systematized and detailed knowledge of the structure of the human body. Clinical medicine concepts are often integrated into this anatomical information. Anatomy II covers these chapters of the Descriptive Human Anatomy: Splanchnology, Neuroanatomy, Estesiology and Angiology. In the lectures, a global view of human anatomy will be presented; in the theoretical-practical classes, aspects of anatomy that are more specific to Dental Medicine will be explored; and with the practical classes, the aim is for students to acquire the ability to identify, interpret and describe the anatomical elements of the human body in a systematic and complete way, using cadaveric specimens as the object of study.

Splanchnology: Digestive system, respiratory system, urinary system, female reproductive system, male reproductive system, endocrine system.

Angiology: Anatomy of the heart, Aortic artery, Carotid system, Subclavian system, Irrigation of the upper limb, Iliac system, Irrigation of the lower limb, Venous drainage, Lymphatic drainage.

Neuroanatomy: Spinal cord, Brain stem, Cerebellum and basal nuclei, Diencephalon, Limbic system, Cortex, Ventricles, Cerebrospinal fluid, Cranial nerves.

Stoichiology: Visual apparatus, Auditory apparatus, Olfactory apparatus, Taste apparatus

Teaching methods and learning activities

There are two one-hour lectures a week, one one-hour theoretical-practical lecture a week and one three-hour practical lecture a week. Anatomical specimens and dissected human cadavers are used in the laboratory classes. Students have access to the specimens used in practical classes outside of their practical classes, as long as they request them in advance.

Eligibility for exams

Participation in at least 3/4 of the practical classes and 3/4 of the theoretical-practical classes taught.

Calculation formula of final grade

Students can pass Anatomy II if they succeed in one of the following three assessment processes:

 

 

 

ASSESSMENT DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER.

 

It consists of the following components:

 

• Two mid-term tests with two exams, one practical and one theoretical, to be held on the same day in the mid-term week on dates to be designated by the Pedagogical Council.

1. 1st mid-term exam - Practical exam (identification of 20 anatomical structures) - 2 values; Theoretical exam (30 multiple choice questions) - 7 values. Attendance at both exams is compulsory. To pass, the student must obtain at least 50% of the marks in the theory exam.
2. 2nd mid-term exam - Practical exam (identification of 20 anatomical structures) - 1.5 values; Theory exam (25 multiple-choice questions) – 6.5 values. Attendance at both exams is mandatory. To pass, the student must obtain at least 50% of the marks in the theory exam.

 

(ii) Assessment of practical classes - 2 values. Each practical class professor will define in the first practical class which continuous assessment criteria they will apply in their classes.

(iii) Evaluation of theoretical-practical classes.

Presentation of clinical cases in TP classes (1 point)

Students who did not pass the exam in the previous year may choose to take the continuous assessment, having to attend the practical and PT classes again, or take the exam only in the appeal exam.

 

FINAL EXAM.

It covers the entire content of Anatomy 2 and consists of a theory test and a practical test, with a mark of 13.5 for the theory test (55 questions) and 3.5 for the practical test (40 structures). The assessment obtained during the semester will be added to this mark (2 marks for the theoretical-practical assessment + 2 marks for the assessment of the practical classes).  To pass, the student must obtain at least 40% of the marks in the theoretical exam. The practical and theoretical components of the exam will be divided into 2 parts corresponding to each of the interim assessments. In this way, students who did not pass the assessment distributed throughout the semester can choose to take only 1 of the practical and/or theoretical parts.

 

 

 

 

APPEAL EXAM.

 

Students attending this year can choose to keep the continuous assessment and the formula in the "Final Exam" section will apply.

 

 

If you choose to keep the marks obtained in the appeal exam only, the distribution of the assessment will be as follows: a theory test and a practical test, with a mark of 15 for the theorical test (55 questions), 5 for the practical test (40 structures). To pass, the student must obtain at least 40% of the marks in the theoretical exam. Students who did not pass in previous years, but who attended the practical classes, will be able to take this exam in the latter form.

Examinations or Special Assignments

Students should study the anatomical specimens available before the practical classes.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

All exams taken in the Special Season will be taken exclusively by the ORAL TEST in front of two professors.

Classification improvement

The exam will consist of the same tests as those taken by students taking the final or appeal exam. It will consist of a theory test and a practical test, with a mark of 15 for the theory test (55 questions) and 5 for the practical test (40 structures).
