Objectives
The main objective of this UC relies on the development of knowledges and technical competences in the field of Bioinformatics, Information Technologies and New Technolgies applied to Dental Medicine, relevant to the approach for clinical and fundamental research. It is intended that the student acquires knowledge and skills that he can apply to the resources available in terms of information technologies, productively throughout his education, research and professional activity.
Learning outcomes and competences
The student must be able to express himself correctly and using the appropriate technical terminology in this area of knowledge and to know and use the computer resources and inovative technologies available in the area of Oral Health.The contact with various tools (hardware and software), as well as disruptive technological inovations, currently available in the field of Dentistry research, will enable the student to optimize his activity.

- Resources and useful content in Information Technologies in Biomedical Sciences and Dental Medicine.
- Augmented reality and Virtual Reality in clinical practice and research in Dental Medicine.
- Digital Clinical Imaging - Digital image formats; Data compression; Digitization of images; Digital image processing; Digital video.
- Digital Dentistry. Image editing: basic and advanced tools; Simulation of treatments and correction of digital oro-maxillofacial images.
- Relational databases; Computer applications for archiving and data processing; Epidemiological databases; Treatment of epidemiological data and spreadsheets.
- Computer-aided design and Computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) in clinical practice and research in Dental Medicine.

Theoretical-practical classes for the presentation and development of the new contents and concepts and tutorial guidance to monitor the progress and development of the practical work conducted by the students, validating the aquired competences in the frame of a practical work.
