Objectives

UC of the 2nd semester (15 ECTS) that allows to consolidate and apply the knowledge acquired in the UCs of the 1st semester. Main objective is the elaboration, presentation and discussion of a thesis project before a panel of professors in the thesis area. In the thesis project, the student must define the research work to be performed and demonstrate to have the necessary academic skills and maturity to successfully complete a doctoral thesis.

Learning outcomes and competences

UC of the 2nd semester (15 ECTS) that allows to consolidate and apply the knowledge acquired in the UCs of the 1st semester. Main objective is the elaboration, presentation and discussion of a thesis project before a panel of professors in the thesis area. In the thesis project, the student must define the research work to be performed and demonstrate to have the necessary academic skills and maturity to successfully complete a doctoral thesis.

Elaboration of a written document - Thesis project - to be presented orally before a jury, and organized in order to:

- To theoretically framing the theme of the thesis;

- Specify the objectives and relevance of the work in view of the state of the art;

- Present the methodologies to be used and the experimental design;

- Predict the results to be achieved and their contribution to the evolution of knowledge;

- Obtaining authorization from the Ethics Committee for Health, when necessary;

- Present a publication plan;

- Predict difficulties and anticipate resolution alternatives;

- Present the schedule of activities;

- Present the Bibliography;

- Identify the supervision team, and respective declarations of acceptance.

The evaluation takes into account the content of the written document, as well as its presentation and defense before the evaluation panel.

- Written document of the thesis project (50%).

- Oral presentation of the thesis to a jury (50%).
