This is a classic course in human macroscopic anatomy that is intended to impart systematic and detailed knowledge of the structure of the human body. In this anatomical course, concepts of physiology, neuroanatomy and some examples of clinical medicine will often be integrated. Systematic Anatomy I deals with three chapters of Human Descriptive Anatomy: Osteology, Arthrology and Myology. In theoretical classes, an overview of human anatomy will be presented and practical classes are intended for students to acquire the ability to identify, interpret and describe the anatomical elements of the human body in a systematic and complete way, having as object of study cadaveric specimens. The remaining chapters on Human Anatomy will be treated in detail in the disciplines of Systematic Anatomy II (Angiology, Splanchnology and Aesthesiology) and Anatomy and Physiology of the Nervous System (Neuroanatomy). The application of Topographic Anatomy concepts to Internal Medicine will be carried out in the Clinical Anatomy discipline.

The detailed program for Systematic Anatomy I can be found in the "Documents" folder. In the first lectures, a general introduction to the anatomy of the following three chapters of human anatomy will be presented: Osteology, Arthrology and Myology, knowledge of the Peripheral Nervous System will be added. Theoretical classes - 2 hours. Practical classes - 3 hours/week with specific timetable for each class, taking place in the practical classrooms and at the Nuno Grande Museum of the Department of Anatomy. These classes are essential for learning skills in Human Anatomy and continuous assessment of knowledge will be carried out, so all students attending the course for the first time, including worker students with special statuses, will have to attend at a minimum of 75 % of these classes to obtain frequency in the subject and thus be admitted to the exam. Main Bibliography: Gray's Anatomy, any edition of the classic book of Human Anatomy in English. It should be noted that in Anatomy, the essential reading is that of the corpses and cadaveric specimens carried out in practical classes and during periods of autonomous study. Therefore, anatomical specimens and cadavers that are part of the Department of Anatomy's collection are available to students for study, which will be handled both in the space of practical classes and outside their hours upon request. The Department also has anatomical pieces organized in the form of a Museum that is open to students during the entire opening hours of the Department of Anatomy.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Two weekly theoretical classes, of one hour each, one weekly TP class of one hour, and one weekly practical class of two hours. In laboratory classes, dissected human cadavers and anatomical specimens will be used. Students have access to anatomical specimens in practical classes and outside of practical classes hours, upon request.

Eligibility for exams
Attendance of practical classes is required according to the general rules of the University of Porto (only a quarter of unjustified absences are allowed to obtain attendance). There will be individual assessment of the performance of students in practical classes that will be carried out by the teacher of each practical class. The general rules to be observed in the evaluation of students at UP provides the following: "do not exceed the limit number of absences corresponding to 25% of the foreseen classes". Practical classes - 3 hours/week with specific time for each class (in classrooms practical class and at the Nuno Grande Museum of the Department of Anatomy). These classes are essential for learning skills in Anatomy and there will be continuous assessment of knowledge so that all students who attend the course for the first time (including worker students) will have to attend a minimum of 75% of these classes to obtain frequency in the chair and thus be admitted to the exam.
Calculation formula of final grade
The student will pass Systematic Anatomy I if he or she succeeds in one of the following three assessment modes:
EVALUATION DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER. It consists of the following components: (i) two interim tests with three exams, one practical, one TP and one theoretical, to be held on the same day in the interim week on dates to be designated by the Pedagogical Council. These tests are rated 9 points in the first evaluation (4 points for the theoretical test, which will consist of 20 questions; 2 points for the TP test and 3 for the practical test) and 9 points for the second evaluation (4 points for the theoretical test, which will consist of 25 questions; 2 points for the TP test and 3 for the practical test); (ii) Continuous assessment throughout the practical classes, each practical class teacher will define in the first practical class which continuous assessment criteria will be applied in their classes (2 points).
FINAL EXAM. It covers the entire subject of Systematic Anatomy 1 and consists of a theoretical and practical test, with a quotation of 12 values for the theoretical test, 6 values for the practical test and 2 values for the continuous assessment. For students presenting to the final exam who attended the subject in previous years, the quotation will be 14 points for the theoretical exam and 6 points for the practical test. The theoretical test will consist of 45 questions. If the student is not successful at the final exam, he or she will have the opportunity to take the recourse/appeal exam.
APPEAL EXAMINATION. It will consist of practical test (6 points) and theoretical test (14 points). To have access to this exam, the student will have to have attended practical classes (attendance in 75% of classes) in the current year or in previous years. This same exam will be used for those students seeking to improve their exam scores that apply for this assessment.
INTERIM TESTS:
All practical tests consist of identifying 20 anatomical structures from the Department of Anatomy's assets. Theoretical tests will consist of multiple answer questions (5 points, the student can only mark 1 point, the wrong ones do not discount). Subjects that are evaluated in the exam of the interim week will be excluded from the evaluation of the final week of the semester.
Examinations or Special Assignments
Students must carry out a preliminary study of the available anatomical specimens before presenting themselves in the practical classes of the course, as they will be evaluated on the quality their preparation.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
All exams performed in Special Term will be done exclusively through ORAL TEST by two professors.
Classification improvement
The exam will consist of the same test that is carried out by students who submit to the final exam or the recourse exam.
