Objectives
The UC aims to provide students the knowledge on the morphology of the permanent teeth of the anterior group, the ultrastructure of cells and tissues of the oral cavity, as well as the anatomy of the stomatognathic system in terms of osteology, arthrology and myology.
Learning outcomes and competences
Students should develop skills and abilities to identify teeth, the ultrastructure of the cells and tissues, bones, joints and muscles of the various components of the face and oral cavity. They should incorporate in their development a critical view of the importance of this knowledge in the etiology of pathologies and in terms of their manifestations and clinical implications.
Working method

Program
ORAL HISTOLOGY - Study of the dental and dental tissues, salivary glands and TMJ.
DENTAL MORPHOLOGY - Study of the dental nomenclature, dental classifications, general and specific morphological characteristics of the teeth of the anterior group and their eruption chronology. OSTEOLOGY - basic concepts of osteology, skeletal overview, types of bones and ossification, bone growth, skeletal connective tissues, bone classification, bone structure, its vascularization and innervation, histogenesis and bone remodeling, skull and face bones.
ARTROLOGY - Types of joints and their structure, classification and movement of joints, joints of the skull, face and TMJ.
MYOLOGY - General considerations, types of muscles, muscle contraction, insertions, general shape and actions of skeletal muscles, fasciae and muscles of the head, face and chewing, surface anatomy of the orofacial region.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Theoretical classes - presentation and explanation on the topics of oral morphology and anatomy
Theoretical-practical classes - presentation by the students, on the form of lecture and monography, of the topics of histology
Practical classes - elaboration of drawings on specific images sheets of dental and dental cells and tissues, and of the permanent teeth of the anterior group. Dental sculpture performed, in wax, by the methods of subtraction and addition. Use of a virtual learning environment implemented through the use of the Moodle platform in the teaching of oral histology and morphology and in the anatomy of the stomatognathic system.

Eligibility for exams
At least seventy-five percent of attendance in theoretical-practical and practical classes.
The attendance obtained in the theoretical and practical and in the practical classes of the curricular unit is valid for one year in case of disapproval.
Calculation formula of final grade
Theoretical assessment with an exam at the end of the semester focusing on the subject taught in the semester that will have a weighting of 50% in the final classification.
Practical assessment with a practical exam at the end of each semester focusing on the subject taught in the semester which will count with 50% for the final practical boot. The continuous assessment obtained in practical classes will count with the remaining 50% for the final grade of this component. The average of the marks obtained in these two practical components, continuous assessment and final exam, will have a weighting of 50% in the final classification.
Minimum score in each of the evaluation components, theoretical and practical, of nine point zero values out of twenty.
Examinations or Special Assignments
Development of a monography, review type, under the Oral Histology subject.
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
Student worker - assessment based on a written examination, theoretical and practical, of the subject taught in the semester without continuous assessment.
Classification improvement
Conducting a written examination, theoretical and practical, of the subject taught in the semester keeping the grade of continuous practical assessment.
