Objectives
The curricular unit has the learning outcomes as follows: 1.To develop the ability of critical reflection on the research process; 2.To promote argumentation skills and critical thinking; 3.To improve students' science communication skills, both oral and written.
Learning outcomes and competences
The students should be able to analyse and understand the scientific research process, including all steps involved. It is expected that students enhance their argumentation skills, as well as their critical thinking. Science communication, both oral and written, should be also improved.

Program
Due to the specificities of this curricular unit, no syllabus can be provided. In each academic year, this curicular unit will allow students to conceptualize, develop and present their ongoing investigation projects in the context of the curricular unit "Monografia/Relatório de Estágio". Throughout the year, the students will present the progress of their research works in seminar sessions. The discussion of the presented works will involve their peers, professors and invited speakers. Seminars with invited speakers will be also organized.

Teaching methods and learning activities
The teaching methodology comprises seminars for the presentation and discussion of the ongoing investigation projects, as well as research seminars with invited speakers. Evaluation will be distributed without final examination, relying on the active participation in the seminars and on the project developed and presented by the student (oral and written).

Eligibility for exams
Terms of frequency: 1.Attendance of at least 75% of the lessons. Student attendance will be controlled by signature in the class attendance list. 2.Participation in the seminars. 3.Presentation of the investigation project developed (oral and written).
Calculation formula of final grade
Continuous assessment considering the class attendance and participation in the seminars: 50%
Presentation/discussion of the investigation project: 20%
Written work about the investigation project: 30%
