Objectives

The aim is to familiarize students with concepts related to the application of computers and information science in clinical practice and research, allowing the use of information technology in a productive manner throughout their education.

Learning outcomes and competences

Acquire knowledge

Applicability of Informatics in dentistry.

Structuring and operating of some medical management programs and electronic medical.

Get acquainted with new technologies used in clinical dentistry (CAD­CAM systems, computerized surgical guides, CT scans conical beam).

Development of skills

Quality rating of targeted health web.

Literature search on search engines/general databases targeted for health.

Structuring articles, posters and scientific communications. Formatting of references/bibliography, and use of reference bibliographic management programs.

Search of scientific information on the Internet using search engines and virtual databases: basic and Search in Google® and Google Scholar®. Basic and Advanced Search in the Online Knowledge Library (B­On) and in the Medline® database.

- How to structure / format a scientific Manage and format bibliographic references. Use of bibliographic reference management program 'EndnoteX7'.
