Objectives
The general aims of Orthodontic Techniques - Unit II of the Post-graduation Course in Orthodontics offers the following core competences:
- to Know the basic notions of orthodontic mechanics;
- to develop the straight wire technique;
- to be able to do indirect bonding.
Learning outcomes and competences
It is intended that the student:
- Know the main basics of orthodontic mechanics;
- Present the appropriate knowledge about the straight arch technique;
- Have the basic knowledge for indirect bonding of brackets.

Knowledge of Orthodontics in the context of the Integrated Master of Dentistry and in the UC Orthodontic Techniques I

- Basic notions of orthodontic mechanics;
- Straight wire technique in orthodontics;
- Indirect bonding in orthodontics.

Eligibility for exams
Mandatory attendance at least 75% of contact hours.
Calculation formula of final grade
- Attendance x 10% x + Continuous assessment + 20% Final exam 70%
- The final classification will be expressed in numerical scale from 0 to 20.
- It is approved the student whose final grade evaluation is equal to or above 10.

There are no precedents in the orthodontic techniques II course of specialization in orthodontics.
A student may not enroll more than twice in the TO II course of the specialization course in orthodontics.

Prerequisites
No prerequisites are necessary for the Iconography curricular unit of the Specialization in Orthodontics course.
Enrollment
Students may not enroll more than twice in the Iconography curricular unit of the Specialization in Orthodontics course.
Omitted cases
The curricular unit Iconography is bound by the regulations of the Specialization in Orthodontics course and those of the Center for Continuing Education of the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Porto. The cases omitted herein shall be dealt with as stipulated by the regulations of creation, internal certification and accreditation of continuing education training courses at the University of Porto, and all other matters shall be resolved by the rector, following a proposal by the course coordinator.
